TUCSON, AZ – Police discovered two children dead inside a Tucson west side home Thursday, April 4. According to authorities, a call came in with a report of multiple gunshot victims inside the home around 2 p.m. However, when police arrived they discovered the victims with signs of noticeable trauma to their bodies. This trauma may not have anything to do with gunshots.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department public information officer, James Allerton, indicated that they do not have any suspects as of yet. Furthermore, he wouldn’t specify if detectives had identified anybody who they thought could potentially be involved.

Dead Children Rock Local Community

Nevertheless, the mystery surrounding the awful tragedy has definitely rattled the neighbors. One neighbor who didn’t want to be identified, said it left everybody with an eerie feeling because the incident involved children. This same person, who had lived on the street for in excess of 40 years, said the family kept to themselves. He mentioned that his interaction with them consisted mostly of waves ‘hi’ or ‘bye.’

The man also mentioned that both children had special needs. Neighbor Ruth Parra was devastated, “I never imagined children, really did not think of children.” Rarely ever do people think of children when they hear gunshots. Guns are almost always the purview of adults, which is who should be in control of them.

Laurie Sauceda added, “I was in a hurry to get here, but then when I saw it was children, my heart just sunk.” This incident and others like it may prompt some law enforcement officials to get counseling. After all, seeing children in this state is disturbing to say the least.

The authorities were in and out of the house collecting clues until deep into the evening. Authorities maintain the investigation is fluid. They said they will offer updates as new information becomes available.
